WHAT:       The results of a new national survey of companies in the
            United States about  "cyber-risk" - and the lack of
            preparedness by many firms for the risks of doing business
            on the Internet - will be announced at a news conference
            by The St. Paul Companies (NYSE:SPC).

WHY:        E-commerce and reliance of businesses on information
            technology is giving rise to new liability risks for all
            types of corporations. This is the second annual survey
            conducted by The St. Paul to gauge the preparedness of
            companies for the emerging risks of "e-technology."
