WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Travelers Institute, the public policy division of The Travelers
Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), today launched a new symposia series to
give consumers and businesses important information about how insurance
works so they may prepare and protect what is most important. This event
was the first of a series of community forums that Travelers Institute
will hold across the country over the next several years.
The initiative is part of a broader company-wide consumer education
program that leverages Travelers 160-year risk management expertise.
Other components of this program include the Consumer
Insurance Guide, content
to help prepare for and prevent property damage, and a digital video
series “Stay
Safe” that helps consumers identify common hazards in the home and
at work.
“We are very excited to host this symposia series that helps consumers
gain a deeper understanding about insurance,” said Joan Woodward,
President of Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public
Policy at Travelers. “This series will help consumers make informed
decisions on how to best protect their families and assets.”
Travelers Institute launched the symposia series on Capitol Hill in the
U.S. Senate Banking Committee hearing room, partnering with Creative
Insurance Solutions, to help raise awareness about the importance of
insurance education. The panel was moderated by Woodward and featured
four veteran financial services professionals:
- Steven Bender, Founder of Creative Insurance Solutions, and a
recipient of Travelers 2013 Agent of the Year Award
- Kathy Gorman, Vice President of Agent & Field Sales Solutions and
Chief Agent Experience Officer at Travelers Personal Insurance, with
over 30 years of experience in the field
- Bill Slosberg, a Senior Loan Officer at First Savings Mortgage Corp.,
with 21 years of experience in mortgage banking
- Judi Seiden, Associate Broker at Prudential PenFed Realty, with over
25 years as a leader in her field
This series follows last week’s Kicking Off Hurricane Preparedness
Season event at the NYSE Euronext where Travelers Institute hosted a
forum discussing lessons learned from Storm Sandy.
